Bad Romance: A Hard Read
SYNOPSIS
Grace wants out.
Out of her house, where her stepfather wields fear like a weapon and her mother makes her scrub imaginary dirt off the floors.
Out of her California town, too small to contain her big city dreams.
Out of her life, and into the role of Parisian artist, New York director—anything but scared and alone. Enter Gavin: charming, talented, adored. Controlling. Dangerous. When Grace and Gavin fall in love, Grace is sure it's too good to be true. She has no idea their relationship will become a prison she's unable to escape. Deeply affecting and unflinchingly honest, this is a story about spiraling into darkness—and emerging into the light again.

MILANA'S REVIEW
I sit here taking a deep breath before writing this review. I’d like to be clear before I go further that this book NEEDS a trigger warning. If they were to change anything for the paperback release it would be that. Every single sentence is a trigger for those who have gone through abuse, especially mental abuse. Be careful and trust your gut feeling when starting this one, fortunately mine told me to keep going.
This story’s focus explores how those gut feelings you get and those red-flags people warn you about get completely dismissed in toxic relationships. While Grace, the main character, has friends to help her along it is important to remember that most people have already been ostracized and have nobody to turn to.
When looking from the outside in it is easy to say “but he treats you terribly” and “just man up and leave” but to actually execute these actions, it is much harder. I hope that those who have not experienced something like this will understand how hard it is to leave a toxic relationship. And that those who have experienced similar situations find release by reading a book like this.
Thank you Heather for sharing this story with the world. It was hard to read and hopefully those who feel alone may stumble upon this book and realize that they’re not alone. It happens more often than they think and usually to those of us who are the nicest most forgiving people.
Thank you Storygram Tours and Fierce Reads for sending me a copy of Bad Romance. It meant a lot to me.
