Into The Drowning Deep: Blood Thirsty Mermaids // ARC Review

SYNOPSIS

Seven years ago, the Atargatis set off on a voyage to the Mariana Trench to film a “mockumentary” bringing to life ancient sea creatures of legend. It was lost at sea with all hands.

Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a maritime tragedy. Now, a new crew has been assembled. But this time they’re not out to entertain. Some seek to validate their life’s work. Some seek the greatest hunt of all. Some seek the truth. But for the ambitious young scientist Victoria Stewart this is a voyage to uncover the fate of the sister she lost. Whatever the truth may be, it will only be found below the waves.

But the secrets of the deep come with a price.

MILANA'S REVIEW

I have three words for you people! THREE WORDS. BLOOD THIRSTY MERMAIDS. That’s it. That’s all you need to know to pick this one up. * brushes shoulder off *

Just kidding. I have more to say. Even though I don’t need to say anything more for you to grab a copy. But.. here we go. Every time I write a review for Seanan McGuire’s books (aka Mira Grant) I feel I just ramble on with nonsensical words thinking I’m doing the book justice. She is a master storyteller and has become an auto buy author for me now. I’ve been recommending her October Daye books to anyone who will listen, her Wayward Children series up and down the aisles in bookstores and now I can shout from the rooftops how much Into The Drowning Deep fulfilled my need for blood thirsty mermaids.

Although this one is in the sci fi genre you can easily throw it into horror while at the same time thinking it’s part non fiction.. definitely think Discovery Channel should take some tips from Grant/McGuire. The book was so tense and all I wanted to know is what would happen. True to her fashion we have diverse characters, strong female leads and twists galore. I highly recommend Into The Drowning Deep!

Big thank you to Hachette Book Group Canada for sending the ARC my way!
