Dark Matter: Melding Time & Space
SYNOPSIS
“Are you happy with your life?” Those are the last words Jason Dessen hears before the masked abductor knocks him unconscious. Before he awakens to find himself strapped to a gurney, surrounded by strangers in hazmat suits. Before a man Jason’s never met smiles down at him and says, “Welcome back, my friend.” In this world he’s woken up to, Jason’s life is not the one he knows. His wife is not his wife. His son was never born. And Jason is not an ordinary college physics professor, but a celebrated genius who has achieved something remarkable. Something impossible. Is it this world or the other that’s the dream? And even if the home he remembers is real, how can Jason possibly make it back to the family he loves? The answers lie in a journey more wondrous and horrifying than anything he could’ve imagined—one that will force him to confront the darkest parts of himself even as he battles a terrifying, seemingly unbeatable foe.

MILANA'S REVIEW
Hold up everyone. Are you looking for a thriller? Were you a fan of inception and the like? Dark Matter by Blake Crouch had so many twists and turns that I felt like I was watching a very intense sporting match. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat after every chapter ending. This book was so much more than just a thriller though it had some very interesting character developments and I loved how in depth each character was.

I mean does that synopsis hook you or what!? This book started off with a bang! I started it on my lunch break at work and had to stop after chapter 3 and all I could think about was “what is happening!?”. If you’re a fan of science fiction and thrillers this is definitely a book for you.
The downfall – so I’m not quite sure how I feel about the heavy physics descriptions. As a scientist I understood what the author was getting at but sometimes I found myself zoning out and skimming. Most of the skimming occurred in the middle of the book unfortunately which I found took away from the awesome story.
I did however push myself to keep going and man was it worth it! I loved the ending! The reveal was fantastic. I literally sat there holding my stomach because my adrenaline kicked in. Is that strange? I was so engrossed I could feel my blood rushing as fast as Jason’s probably was. Check out Dark Matter for a wild ride!
