SYNOPSIS

MILANA'S REVIEW
Going into this contemporary YA I had no clue as to what I was getting myself into. I had not read the back, I had no idea what it was about, I picked it at random to listen to off audiobooks.com. I'm so conflicted with this one, it's hard for me to completely rate it because I keep changing my mind! Here, let me break it down for you.
The Narration
The voices for this one were not my favourite. I found Jack's voice to be irritating, Peekay to be slightly "airy" and Alex was flat which was not so bad because her character was a bit flat. I did enjoy the different voices telling each part but as someone who is sensitive to noise I was not a fan, that's just me though! Don't worry I've talked to others who had no problems so make your own opinion.
The App
My favourite part about the AudioBooks app is that I can pre-listen to the book from the beginning for a period of time ranging from 1-5min which is enough for me to decide whether I can handle the voices and if I would like to keep listening. This one I knew the voices were not my favourite from the get-go but the content was interesting to me so I went with it.
The Book
This book is SO hard to rate. I keep bouncing from 3.5-4 stars and I just can't settle. The subject matter is INTENSE. Please remember this. It is a book focused on what it takes to break down a rape culture through the voices of teens to remind us of why it's so important to stand our ground on these matters. It was so hard to listen to at certain points and if I was reading the book I probably would have had to put it down to digest many times. This is an important read and if you're looking for a contemporary that will portray the current world we live in search no more this is the read for you!
